Reflection

Taking the Spring 2025 Writing for Engineers course at the City College of New York York has taught me a lot of useful methods. For example, being very specific in my writing, research, or lab reports, and learning what and how to write for your targeted audiences. Throughout the course, I learned that engineers use the APA citation format instead of MLA. I never expected to learn that the Brooklyn Bridge was monumental during the time of its construction, and how there was also a woman who was heavily involved in its creation.

In my opinion, the first assignment, “Describe an Egg” is the best assignment to assign to students who are taking this course at the beginning because it teaches us as students why it is important to be very specific our their writing and research facts, while citing them properly. From this class, I believe I am more prepared for when I am accepted into the Grove School of Engineering because this course has opened my eyes to the fact that I will not only be writing for other engineers but also my bosses, the media, etc.
